Nina Payne Productions is pleased to announce the release of its A/W13 video, "Table Game" directed by E. Lee Smith.
Inspired by Surrealist parlor games, "Table Game" features a dinner game that is played by six talented performers and led by a sage-like master of ceremonies who guides the group through mysterious tarot card-induced hallucinations.
Totemic objects are strewn atop the table as is a deck of tarot cards. The table bisects two realms where surface and latent articulation are revealed: faces and feet respectively. Facial expressions or lack thereof, manipulate the game to one’s advantage. The feet represent all things metaphorically “under the table”, the “true” counterpart to the player’s controlled countenance. Players symbolically remove themselves from the table--it isn’t clear if these departures are part of the game, childish escapes, or simply imaginary.
"Table Game" features a number of notable performers, designers, and dancers.
